Traveling to London with teenagers meant finding restaurants that allowed us to experience the city while still serving food our teens would genuinely enjoy. Fortunately, London made that surprisingly easy.
Some of our favorite meals were British classics, while others were familiar favorites like steak, burgers, and pizza. We also found a few fun cafés that our teens were excited to visit.
If you’re planning a family trip and wondering where to eat in London with teenagers, these are the restaurants and cafés our teens loved—and the places we would happily visit again.
Mayfair Chippy

You can’t visit London without having fish and chips at least once, and Mayfair Chippy was one of our favorite places to enjoy this British classic.
The restaurant feels more polished than a traditional takeaway, but it is still relaxed and comfortable for families. The familiar menu made it an easy choice for our teenagers while still giving us a meal that felt distinctly British.
Its Mayfair location also makes it convenient when visiting Buckingham Palace, Oxford Street, Regent Street, or the surrounding shopping areas.
We ordered their calamari for an appetizer, which came with this asian dipping sauce that was amazing. For dinner, we ordered fish and chips and the portions were so large that we split them along with some side salads. The fish and chips come with homemade tartar sauce, mushy peas and a curry dipping sauce. This was one of the top meals of the trip that everyone loved.

Why our teens loved it: Familiar food, generous portions, and an authentic London meal that didn’t feel overly formal.
Best for: A traditional fish-and-chips experience during a day of sightseeing.
The Devonshire

The Devonshire gave us the classic London pub experience we wanted. It has a lively atmosphere and feels like somewhere you can enjoy both a memorable meal and a true piece of London.
This is an especially good choice for families traveling with older children or teenagers. It gave our teens the opportunity to experience a proper British pub atmosphere while still having food they enjoyed.
The Devonshire is extremely popular, so this is one restaurant where you’ll want to plan ahead. The open bookings a week in advanced and these go very fast. I would suggest setting an alarm and getting up as soon as they post to get a spot.
We were able to get a table on the rooftop, which was magical. It just so happened that England was playing in a World Cup game that night, so experiencing a football match was something we will never forget.

The Devonshire starts the table out with warm rolls and butter and then would come around for refills throughout the meal. We ordered their bacon and malt vinegar scallops to share and they were a hit with everyone.

For dinner, we ordered their set menu and their half lobster. The set menu included prawn and langoustine cocktail for an appetizer, skirt steak with duck fat chips and bernaise sauce and sticky toffee pudding for desert. The lobster was served alone and they have a list of sides to choose from.

Why our teens loved it: The bustling atmosphere and a dinner that felt uniquely London.
Best for: A memorable family dinner and traditional British pub experience.
Flat Iron

Flat Iron was an easy win for our entire family. We went here our first night in after a long travel day.
The restaurant’s steak-focused menu made ordering simple, and the casual, energetic atmosphere worked perfectly for teenagers. It allowed us to enjoy a good steak dinner without turning the evening into a long or overly formal dining experience.
We ordered the steak, chip and burgers. Everyone loved it and at the end the waiter will give you a tiny metal butcher knife charm that you can redeem for a salted Carmel ice cream when you walk out. Our waiter even let us keep one of the charms.

London restaurants can also become expensive quickly, especially when traveling as a family of four. Flat Iron felt like a good option when we wanted a satisfying dinner at a more manageable price.
Why our teens loved it: Steak, a relaxed atmosphere, and a simple menu.
Best for: A casual steak dinner after a full day of exploring London.
Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung was a fun change from traditional British food and a big hit with our teens. The restaurant is best known for its handmade xiao long bao—delicate steamed dumplings filled with savory broth. We also enjoyed sharing noodles, fried rice, wontons, and several different dumplings around the table. The lively atmosphere and shareable menu make it an excellent choice for families exploring London, especially when everyone wants to try something different. Reservations are recommended because it can get very busy.
We booked a table at the one located in Selfridges after we did the Jellycat experience, which I will post about. The Jellycat experience ran extremely late and hostess was kind enough to extend our reservation time at the restaurant. It is on the same floor so my husband went over and explained the situation and they were more than accommodating.
We ordered the honey and vinegar short ribs and the cucumbers in spicy sauce for our appetizer. Both were delicious.

For our dinner, we ordered prawn and egg fried rice, pork Xiao long bao and chicken and vegetable wontons. Again, everything was delicious.

For desert we ordered the chocolate bao buns. This was a must try for my teens. They were very chocolatey for my taste but my teens loved it. They are served with a homemade whipped on the side that does cut the sweetness down.

Why our teens loved it: The soup dumplings, noodles, fried rice, and the fun of ordering several dishes to share.
Best for: A lively family meal when your teens want a break from traditional British food.
Which London Restaurants Would We Visit Again?
We would return to every place on this list, but for different reasons.
Mayfair Chippy and The Devonshire gave us the strongest sense of having a traditional London dining experience.
The biggest lesson from our London trip was that eating with teenagers doesn’t require choosing between authentic British experiences and familiar food. Some of our best days included a combination of both: a classic London meal, something simple everyone liked, and a fun café stop along the way.
